She never knew what hit her and Sue lived in a haze of raw emotion for over a year after her first husband, a high school sweetheart, died in a freak DUI road accident in the Bronx, New York, that left her widowed at 23 and looking after a two year old baby girl all by herself.

While she easily adjusted to having an empty bed while she was grieving, one thing was a lot harder to bear: the loneliness and the fact that she had no one to talk to. Before long, Sue was up to her ears in her newfound work and to keep busy, which was more like keeping the emptiness out, she was doing overtime at home on her laptop, not even bothering to count the hours.

New York could be a dangerous place indeed for a lonely woman and the thought of venturing outside was almost too much for Sue to bear, even though her parents, who were near, often suggested that she try. She would not hear of it. She had grown accustomed to the situation and was quite comfortable in her routine.

Through her work, she was in frequent contact with other often lonely people, the members of the companys’ sales force. With the time lag, the overtime she was doing brought her in contact with sales people on the field who were in need of professional support. It was during a phone conversation that the California Sales Rep casually mentioned he was looking forward to his first date with a woman he had met via a local online dating site.

Sue let the remark pass, but one evening, a few weeks later, when she had that same Sales Rep on her phone, she asked him how it had gone. He was wildly enthusiastic as he told her about his new girlfriend, who had come to the date with her brother, of all things. The brother had been discretely suspicious at first, but had feigned a forgotten errand not 40 minutes later, as it had been obvious to him his sister needed him out of the way.

The Sales Rep explained to Sue she should type “New York online dating” in any search engine to get a list of local online dating sites, which she eventually did one evening. She did not know where to start, but she found www-dating.org, where she started browsing through articles about online dating. She eventually found that she could subscribe to a free five day online dating course, which she did.

It did not take Sue that long after having gone through the course to decide that online dating had many advantages, especially in New York and she decided to read up on a few reviews as the course had advised. Soon she was in contact with people she never would have met via the conventional dating scene and she had to phone her dad so she could meet her first real date.

It might sound incredible, but he was a doctor, just  like her dad, and they knew each other! He was extremely timid when it came to personal relationships and if it was not for Sue’s dad, the relationship might never have had a chance to blossom the way it did.

Four years after the tragic death of her first husband, Sue remarried, thanks to a local New York Online Dating site and also thanks to www-dating.org, where she read up on the articles on how to tackle the online dating scene.

Sue actually subscribed to the free five day online dating course and even went on to buy the online dating guide. It was full of practical advice on things to look out for, the no-no part of online dating, playing it safe and a lot more.

Today, Sue and her husband have a full life and they regularly receive guests who invariably at some point of the evening hit the famous subject of how they met through a regional online dating site that was aimed at New Yorkers.
